‘Olu Maintain brought back Yahooze’ | 5 key moments from an #EveningWithNigeria


‘An Evening with Nigeria’, which was hosted by General Mohammed Buhari and Prof. Osibanjo, saw the convergence of celebrities and politicians, who came out to meet with the presidential aspirant for the APC  as well as the vice-president candidate.

The event which was held on Thursday, March 12, at the Intercontinental Hotel,was full of thrills, surprises and speeches.

Below are 5 key moments from ‘An Evening with Nigeria’.

1. Olu Maintain stole the show for the night when he mounted the stage in his Jalabiya and performed his classic tune ‘Yahooze’, which sent the crowd wild with a mixture of euphoria and dejavu, for the song that once was.
2. He was joined on stage later by General Pype who swayed the crowd to his reggae tune. The Hausa clan seemed to love it as they all stood and chanted along to what he sang, most of which had ‘APC’ in its lyrics.
3. Earlier, Dele Momodu had blessed us with a chronological details of his life and experience, especially delving into his experience while attempting to be President of Nigeria. According to him, the ambition ‘failed woefully’.
4. Festus Keyamo reminded us of the Nigeria that once was and the fact the we’ve had 16 years of the same old system and the need to try something new for a change. Notice the pun? He also said Nigerians should embrace the APC candidates even if they are not perfect.
5. Gov. Amaechi and Gov. Fashola took turns to mount the podium, with the former apologising for the absence of the presidential aspirant, while the latter blamed President Jonathan for the earlier reported robbery attack in Lekki.
