‘An Evening with Nigeria’, which was hosted by General Mohammed
Buhari and Prof. Osibanjo, saw the convergence of celebrities and
politicians, who came out to meet with the presidential aspirant for the
APC as well as the vice-president candidate.
The event which was held on Thursday, March 12, at the Intercontinental Hotel, was full of thrills, surprises and speeches.
Below are 5 key moments from ‘An Evening with Nigeria’.
1. Olu Maintain stole the show for the night when he
mounted the stage in his Jalabiya and performed his classic tune
‘Yahooze’, which sent the crowd wild with a mixture of euphoria and
dejavu, for the song that once was.
2. He was joined on stage later by General Pype who
swayed the crowd to his reggae tune. The Hausa clan seemed to love it as
they all stood and chanted along to what he sang, most of which had
‘APC’ in its lyrics.
3. Earlier, Dele Momodu had blessed us with a
chronological details of his life and experience, especially delving
into his experience while attempting to be President of Nigeria.
According to him, the ambition ‘failed woefully’.
4. Festus Keyamo reminded us of the Nigeria that
once was and the fact the we’ve had 16 years of the same old system and
the need to try something new for a change. Notice the pun? He also said
Nigerians should embrace the APC candidates even if they are not
perfect.
5. Gov. Amaechi and Gov. Fashola took turns to mount
the podium, with the former apologising for the absence of the
presidential aspirant, while the latter blamed President Jonathan for
the earlier reported robbery attack in Lekki.
