Jonathan campaign buses burnt in Niger


Thisday newspaper is reporting that suspected supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Sunday attacked and burnt two campaign vehicles belonging to President Goodluck Jonathan in Niger state.

The attack took place around the Suleja area.

According to the paper, PDP members were celebrating the defection of over 2,000 members from the APC during the campaign of PDP governorship candidate, Umar Nasko.
The attack took place after the campaign train which had on it the Governor of Niger State, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu had left the town for Gurara Local Government Area.
The intervention of the military prevented the escalation of the situation.
Soldiers have condoned off the street in which the incident happened.
Effort to reach the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Niger State police command, DSP M. Gambari,  over the incident was abortive.

However, witness account said the vehicles were burnt to ashes but no live was lost.
