Goodluck Jonathan Promises Youths Additional 8million Jobs in 4 Years

President Goodluck Jonathan has promised that the Federal Government, under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, will create 8 million jobs for the youths if he is re-elected as President.
He said his administration has already started talks with influential Nigerians, including UBA chairman, Tony Elumele, in the private sector to ensure that this target becomes a reality.

President Jonathan, who addressed Nigerians at the PDP presidential rally in Abeokuta on Monday, said the party was out to battle poverty through wealth and jobs creation.
The President disclosed that the Federal Government had set up a specialized council, headed by Vice President Sambo, to work out the modalities for the creation of no less than two million jobs annually.

Jonathan said, “We are out to create jobs; our target is to create not less than 2 million jobs every year. We are working with the private sector. Tony Elumelu is part of them and when we are talking about Elumelu, you know we are talking about a serious investor.”
He noted the achievements of the PDP in the agriculture sector of the country, adding that the administration would incorporate commercial agriculture into secondary schools curricula to create wealth, more jobs and to reduce the country’s balance of payment deficit on imported foods.
He assured that the efforts by the Federal Government on the already existing agricultural projects would be sustained to better the lives of the individuals and to invigorate the economy.
The President disclosed that the Federal Government’s industrial policy had encouraged the recent establishment of 56 organizations in Ogun State, which had employed numerous Nigerians.
The President added that the Federal Government would embark on the development of storehouses and other facilities across the country, including Ogun State, to upgrade stockpiling and additive framework among the cultivating masses, saying that the PDP-led Federal Government was prepared to start the development of silos in Ogun East senatorial region in the state.

Akinwunmi Adesina, the minister of agriculture and rural development, revealed that the PDP possessed the capacity to diminish yearly cost on food imports from N1.1 trillion to N697 billion through an energetic horticultural system, and that Nigeria was the only country that initially presented e-wallet fertilizer scheme to forestall disturbing extortion rates in the agriculture sector of the economy.
