President Goodluck Jonathan has forwarded to the Senate, the name of
former Minister for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, to be ratified for
ministerial appointment.
Obanikoro, alongside 7 other ministerial nominees are expected to be confirmed by the lawmakers of the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly.
Senate president, David Mark, read out the letter from the president on the floor of the house on Tuesday, February 17.
The eight ministerial nominees are; Patricia Akwashiki (Nasarawa), Augustine Akobundu (Abia state), Fidelis Nwankwo (Ebonyi), Hauwa’u Lawan (Jigawa), Musiliu Obanikoro (Lagos), Kenneth Kobani (Rivers) and Joel Danlami Ikenya (Taraba).
Musiliu Obanikoro, until a few months ago, was the Minister of Defence. He resigned from his post to unsuccessfully contest the primary election of the PDP in the Lagos governorship race, which he lost to Jimi Agbaje.
