Nigerians Will Rise Against You! Bamidele warns Jonathan

The candidate of the Labour Party in the last Ekiti Governorship election, Opeyemi Bamidele, has advised President Goodluck Jonathan not to test people’s will with the general elections.
In a statement on Tuesday in Ado Ekiti, Bamidele who was reacting to the poll shift of presidential election and State and National Assembly elections from February 14 and 28 to March 28 and April 11, respectively, said Nigerians were capable of handling their destiny.

In spite of the poll shift, he advised Nigerians to be resolute in their support for the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) to deliver Nigeria from corruption, insecurity and unemployment.

Bamidele described the role of the military in the intrigues leading to the postponement as “bizarre” and capable of dividing the Nigerian Army along ethnic lines.

He said it was curious and rather suspicious for the military to have come with a threat that it won’t be able to guarantee security barely one week to election, saying this signaled that the Peoples Democratic Party and its handlers had infiltrated the military, making them  becoming desperate by the day.

“Jonathan Presidency must not forget in a hurry how Nigerians fought the military dictator, Gen Ibrahim Babangida and chased him out when he was becoming too crafty  for Nigerians to handle. They should not also forget how Nigerians resisted the late maximum ruler, Gen Sanni Abacha.

“When it comes to a situation like this, Nigerians had always been the winners. So, I want to tell President Goodluck Jonathan to stand on his promise that there would be no further shift in the date because doing so would lend credence to the rumour that his government is planning to implant an Interim Government that has no root in the constitution.

“Should Jonathan and his handlers go ahead with this permutation, they should be ready for a serious resistance from Nigerians because people would have to fight to retain the unity of the country and their own destiny,” Bamidele stated.

Bamidele urged the Independent National Electoral Commission Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, not to be intimidated by the power that be and ensure that his loyalty always align with the constitution and the Nigerian populace.
