AFCON 2015: Grant demands fair officiating ahead of semi-final clash against hosts

Avram Grant
Avram Grant has said he is expecting good officiating, when he leads Ghana to face Equatorial Guinea in the semi-final of the Africa Cup of Nations.

The hosts qualified for the last four under controversial circumstances. The referee in charge of their quarter-final clash against Tunisia, awarded a last-minute penalty for them to draw level.
Equatorial Guinea eventually won the tie in extra time, to qualify for their first ever semi-final.
Ever since, there has been conspiracy theory around CAF trying to help the hosts progress as far as possible through match officials. But Grant expects no repeat of such incident on Thursday.
“Look, this thing I cannot control. If the referee will do one or two, three [mistakes] I cannot control,” he said.
“I can control only about our performance. I want to believe that everything outside the pitch is good.
“I think the referees until now from what I have seen – except one or two games – have been good.
“So this is not my issue, I am sure everyone will be watching this and everybody that needs to take care of this will do their job.”
