The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress,
Muhammadu Buhari, has promised to combat insecurity, corruption and
unemployment head long, if elected as president in next month’s
presidential election.
Buhari made the pledge on Thursday during the APC presidential rally
held at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin, the Edo State capital.
Accompanying Buhari were the National Chairman of the party, Chief
John Odigie-Oyegun; a national leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu;
the vice presidential candidate of the party, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo; the
Director-General of the Buhari Presidential Campaign Organisation and
Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi; Edo State Governor, Adams
Oshiomhole; and former governors of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi and Segun
Oni.
Others were state party leaders, state executive council members as well as serving national and state legislators.
Buhari explained that APC had decided to focus its attention on the
major challenges, in view of the hardship Nigerians were passing through
as a result of the “16 years of PDP misrule”.
The APC presidential candidate decried the poor state of
infrastructure in various sectors of the economy, which he attributed to
the lack of accountability in the management of resources, urging
Nigerians to use their votes to bring an end to the leadership of the
PDP-led Federal Government.
Buhari added, “When PDP came into power, NEPA or the Power Holding
Company of Nigerian, both blessed memory, were producing about 3,000 to
4,000 megawatts. Today, after PDP has expended $20bn, we are producing
less than that.
“With this amount of lack of accountability, there is no way Nigeria
can survive. So, before they kill Nigeria and kill us, we better vote
out the PDP. We hope that on the Election Day, you will come out enough
en masse and make sure PDP is constitutionally killed from Nigeria.
He said the APC would strive to make insecurity in the North East and
other parts of the country a thing of the past in order to create
avenues for meaningful development to thrive.
The former head of state described a situation where over 60 per cent
of Nigerian youths were unemployed as “extremely dangerous for the
nation-state”, as it had resulted in increase in social vices.
He, however, assured the people that the nation’s agricultural sector
would be revitalised, through the provision of soft loans and farm
inputs for farmers and encourage agricultural entrepreneurship, which he
said would make youths employers of labour and reduce the high level of
joblessness in the country.
He said, “APC government, by the will of God and Nigerians, from 30th
of May this year, we will make sure that we remove insecurity from the
North East to Badagry, from Sokoto to Cross River and from Daura to Port
Harcourt. We are going to remove insecurity.
“There is nothing that nothing that we can do without security. So, priority is to firstly secure this country”.
He also promised to improve the education standard in Nigeria through
the provision of qualified teachers and adequate equipment and address
ecological problems, such as erosion, which he said were ravaging many
parts of the country.
“We will try and do those things that are really bothering you,
especially erosion. The amount of resources required to control erosion
in Edo State alone are enormous, not to talk of the South Eastern
states. The APC government will do that; this is an undertaking”, Buhari
stated.
In his address, Tinubu described the party’s candidates as men of
distinction and integrity and the APC as a party which fulfilled
promises, as demonstrated in the states under the leadership of the
party.
While describing Buhari as courageous and “a man for the right
season”, the APC national leader accused the Federal Government of
claiming to have been sabotaged in its fight against insurgency but
failed to expose the culprits.
“Any time they want excuse, they talk and make excuses. They cannot
even conquer insecurity; there is Boko Haram even in their government.
If you know that, why not take them out of government? At least, you
know they are in your government”, he said
General’s
reaction was published by Nigerian Breaking News. The agency asked APC
candidate why he was not going to respond/react to the latest
documentary against his person by the PDP, AIT and NTA.
Buhari replied: “What again am I still going to say? I have been moved to tears reading and seeing how young Nigerians who are even less than 30 years are picking holes and fallacies from the official lies told about me, about Tunde, about Atiku, Soyinka, my ex-late wife, my wife, my late children and the good history of Nigeria.
“Young people have corrected the lies being told by elderly men who were eye witnesses and ought to know better but decided to tell blatant lies so as to prevent us from rescuing Nigeria,” he added.
“But like I said my joy is full today knowing that our young people in this country are better historians and have refused to be manipulated. - See more at: http://www.9janinja.com.ng/2015/01/buhari-reacts-to-controversial.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter#sthash.2eamzbln.dpuf

I will not say anything now because the nation is not confused and I don’t want or intend to break the Abuja Peace Accord. My word is my bond.”
The documentary, “The Real Buhari”, which presents Buhari’s military regime as a first to sentence a woman to death by firing squad, caused different reactions in Nigeriian society.
Some people called it pro-Jonathan, saying that the documentary was made by the supporters of the key Buhari’s opponent – incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan. Others believe believe every word said in the documentary.
The ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was recently also accused of rumours circulating around the education certificates of the APC presidential candidate - See more at: http://www.9janinja.com.ng/2015/01/buhari-reacts-to-controversial.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter#sthash.2eamzbln.dpuf
